We enter the small village on foot, passing under the entrance arch, over which stands the crenellated tower that is part of the ancient castle of the Della Gherardesca family, built in the year 1000 and later remodeled over the centuries. Royal and impregnable, it stands out imposingly on the hill of Castagneto Carducci.

Il mare. In estate la sua superficie increspata si riflette come uno specchio, raddoppiando la luce del sole. La luce solare rifratta, pura, intensa e indiretta, nutre le viti e ammorbidisce i tannini, rendendoli voluttuosi, sottilmente sfumati, semplicemente perfetti. Mentre la luce si posa sul vigneto, il mare genera un altro elemento. Una brezza leggera e carica di umidità si insinua tra le viti e i grappoli d`uva. L`aria fresca attenua il processo di maturazione, prolunga la delicata evoluzione di un`acidità sostenuta ed equilibrata, rinfresca il frutto nei mesi più secchi e lo rende più asciutto in quelli più umidi.

Sea. During summer its rippled surface reflects like a mirror, doubling the sunlight. The refracted sunlight, pure, intense and indirect, feeds the vines and softens the tannins, making them voluptuous, subtly nuanced, simply perfect. As the light settles on the vineyard, the sea generates another element. A gentle, moisture-laden wind breeze creeps through the vines and grape clusters. The cool air mitigates the ripening process, prolongs the delicate evolution of a sustained and balanced acidity, refreshes the fruit in the drier months and makes it drier in the wetter months.
